The staff of an airline in an international airport were shocked to discover the 6-year-old child wandering around at the counter for check-in, holding a small backpack, along with a folded piece paper.
As they read the letter they were wracked with emotion. The note contained only a couple of disturbing phrases: “Please take care of the man. There’s no way to continue. .”
The youngster, confused and still, did not know the reason his parents taken him to the airport. Airport officials quickly began an investigation. But after reviewing CCTV video and passenger logs his parents weren’t found. The backpack contained some items of clothing, toys along with a half-empty drink bottle.
The story of the boy’s absconding was quickly spread and sparked grief and outrage across the globe. A lot of people online expressed their sorrow at a child being who was pushed into this kind of scenario, while some expressed frustration at parents. But they expressed sadness at the possibility that a sense of need is a factor that could lead anyone to the kind of act.
Experts suggest that these cases indicate deeper issues. The effects of poverty, migration, and breakdowns in the family can force parents to make difficult choices. “It’s easy to judge,” an advocate for children’s welfare said, “but behind every story of abandonment, there’s usually a story of desperation.”
The kid is under the supervision of children’s protection agencies. Adoption and foster care offers for his care have been flooding through from family members across the world, enthralled by his situation.
The haunting picture persists: a youngster, on the ground in the busy airport with just a backpack with an unwritten note, which symbolized sadness and the faint hope that somebody, someplace, will provide him with the kind of life that the parents would have never.
